More than 1,700 women who were injured by broken Paragard copper IUDs have filed lawsuits against Teva Pharmaceuticals and CooperSurgical, the manufacturers of the birth control device. These lawsuits have alleged that the T-shaped arms on Paragard are prone to break when the device is being removed, putting women at risk of damage to their uterus or other organs, additional surgeries, or even death.
